Rebranding Alexanders Italian Bistro

As part of my graduate curriculum, I took an intensive introduction to the basics of design principles. This class provided me with essential design skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as design literacy. The final project was to rebrand a company of my choosing; I selected Alexander’s Italian Bistro, an Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. For this project I designed their logo, website, and menu brochure.

The Challenge

Current visual identity and brand voice used in online mediums was inconsistent with brand experience at brick and mortar location. Visual identity was inconsistent across the website and did not display a defined color pallet or typographic identity.  The content copy displayed numerous grammatical errors, and the brand did not appear to possess a logo.

The Solution

The solution for the class exercise was to interact with the brand, and perform a comprehensive brand audit in order to inform strategy for rebrand. The project was to redesign the visual identity by designing a new website mockup, company logo, and creating one example of marketing materials for the brand.
